What does the import preparation process look like?

Platform containers with a length of 20 'and 40' are intended for the transport of heavy and bulky loads. The load capacity of these containers (40 ') is approx. 40 tons. They can form on board a ship or in a "tween-deck" hold for the transport of non-containerized cargo.

In fact, the entire logistics of transporting even extremely standard things such as clothing, electronic equipment or even groceries requires complicated planning, obtaining a lot of permits, customs clearance and spending a lot of money. What we get as the final effect: full shelves, is possible only thanks to extremely complicated, demanding and usually several days long logistics processes.

Planning the import itself is not only about finding a foreign seller who will offer the goods at low rates. It is above all about hiring a reliable forwarder who will deliver the product from the manufacturer to the buyer. The entire import organization begins with the search for the right transport, which can be by sea, land or air - depending on what we import, in what number and from which country in the world. It is a complicated process, for which many companies simply do not have time, and this task is delegated to an external contractor. His task is then, in particular, to plan such transport, properly insure it, determine the route and type of transport. Usually, the services of an external company also include direct mediation between the buyer in Poland and the foreign exporter - searching for attractive offers, obtaining samples and sending them to the buyer to confirm the quality, preparing all documentation.

However, the importer commissioning such a service to an external company is still legally responsible for the imported product; he will also pay any financial penalties for importing prohibited goods. In terms of logistics, there are no major restrictions on the goods transported: the organization of import is most often adapted to the form of imported products in terms of the choice of route, means of transport and potential customs clearance.
