Exports of goods to Japan

flaga Europy i Japonii Polish producers send more and more manufactured goods to the eastern market. And although the most common recipients are companies of the Russian Federation and Chinese, since 2010 we have been observing a huge increase in exports to island Japan. Quarter by quarter, the Japanese buy more and more of our products and, interestingly, these are not only food products sold only in the central part of the continent. According to experts, export to Japan is one of the exceptionally profitable domains of domestic exports and there is no indication that this will change in the coming years, even despite the global crisis. The year 2013 is an increase by 8% to the value of EUR 440 million. An important issue, of course, is what we actually export to Japan and which products are most often imported by the Japanese. In addition to food products, such as frozen pork, a lot of space is taken by nicotine products: cigarettes and cigars, as well as industrial equipment, most often used in the production of cars: engines, chassis, bearings, fuel systems. Last year, our exports accounted for just 0.3% of all trade in Japan.

There is also more and more information about the shipment of agricultural machinery and industrial chemicals: air fresheners, window cleaning agents, washing powders. Japan also often imports Polish furniture, in particular wooden furniture made in small companies, ceramic products, which are appreciated much more than Chinese ones, and medicinal products such as bandages, contact lenses, and prostheses. In the vast majority of cases, exports to Japan are made by air due to the speed of the goods reaching their destination. Looking for financial cuts, many companies decide to forward by sea, which, although much slower, often turns out to be several times cheaper and, with small pallets or containers, much more attractive in terms of price. When exporting goods to Japan, it is worth remembering about the local customs laws and employing a carrier in Poland who will have the required certificates and will receive the necessary permits in Japan. Otherwise, our transport may not only get stuck at the border, but also be withdrawn to warehouses or fully confiscated.
