Container transport, i.e. universal cargo transport

Export to Australia Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, Adelaide, Brisbane - ports to which we offer permanent container and groupage service. We use proven sea carriers at relatively low prices correlated with the time of the container transit to Australia.

tiry z kontenerami Today, container ships have taken over the seas around the world. Container transport is not the only thing that dominates the seas. Its strong position is also visible in rail, air, road and combined intermodal transport. Today, containers are present at every link in the logistics chain.

Container transport is one of the most hot topics in the TSL industry today, and almost every forwarding and transport company strives for the largest possible share in the market of "container transport" services.

The strength of containers lies in their economy. They are, in fact, universal "packaging" for the goods they carry. As most of these containers (hence the term ship type: container ships) are 20 and 40 feet - they are easy, due to their versatility, to transport - both on ships, by rail and on truck sets. This ease translates into speed, ease of use and its reliability, which is the source of success in containerization.

In addition to 20 and 40-foot containers (respectively 1 and 2 TEU - twenty-foot-equivalent-units in units used in container transport), there is also a large group of containers intended for the transport of cargo with special requirements or non-standard sizes. It is worth taking a look at them, because the container transport offer is an important and attractive supplement to the logistics offer.

High Cube containers stand out among the different types of containers.

The main difference between this model and the well-known 20 'and 40' is the external height reaching 9'6 ", i.e. 2.895 mm. This allows for additional space inside the container - approx. 10 cubic meters. This type of container is intended for transporting loads of rather light structure, and of above-average size (increased height), which cannot fit into traditional containers, they are relatively often used in maritime trade, so their presence in the ports of Gdynia and Gdańsk is not very rare.

Interesting from the point of view of transport are the so-called containers. palettwide, designed on the basis of the classic 40 '. They differ from them by increased width. They can be loaded crosswise with 3 rows of Euro-pallets or 2 industrial pallets. These containers hold (up to 45 'PW) - 33 pallets (while the universal 40' container only 25).

Palletwide containers are used in short sea shipping (mainly Europe) where sea transport has to compete fiercely with road transport.

20 and 40-foot open-top containers also turn out to be useful in the TSL industry. Another type of atypical construction is the so-called hardtop, adapted to the transport of oversized cargo, difficult or impossible to transport in standard containers. The construction of such a container allows unloading / loading both from the top and through the door opening with a removable upper beam. Unlike the opentop container, the hardtop has a removable watertight steel roof that weighs nearly half a ton (approx. 450 kg). They belong to the group of specialized loads, but nevertheless are widely used in the "container transport" industry.

Another type are the so-called platform containers that are 20 'and 40' long. They are used to transport heavy and bulky loads. The load capacity of the 40 'platform containers is about 40 tons, which is a much better result than other types of containers. A very durable floor enables the transport of loads with high point pressures. Most often, these containers are used in port-to-port relationships and rarely leave the transhipment terminals. Like flatbed containers, they can form teams as a basis for non-container or specialized loads. Also as part of the "container transport" service.

Among others used in the sea transport industry, there are also refrigerated containers, which are used to transport cargo that requires constant temperature. The walls have a special structure and are filled with polyurethane foam. The cooling machine automatically maintains a constant temperature in the range from + 25 ° C to -25 ° C as long as the difference between the external temperature and the set temperature does not exceed 42 ° C for heating and 65 ° C for cooling.

Other often used are tank containers (so-called container-tanks), used to transport, among others liquid chemicals. All of them are successfully transported by Helena Transport Spedycja.
